Docker environment

# this should print out the details required to get the shell prompt talking to docker
docker-machine env default --shell=cmd

# this is the direct command
FOR /f "tokens=*" %i IN ('docker-machine env default --shell=cmd') DO %i

Running node locally

# get in the directory
cd /node-app

# install webpack globally
npm install -g webpack

# start the app
npm start

# navigate to
http://localhost:3000

Docker stuff

With a valid docker host set run these commands

# build our docker container
docker build -t bapti/dundee-data-day .

# run our docker container
docker run -p 3000:3000 -d bapti/dundee-data-day

# Open the url
http://192.168.99.100:3000
http://docker-host:3000

Docker compose stuff

With a valid docker host set run these commands

# build our containers
docker-compose up

# run our docker container
docker-compose start

Prom dash => http://docker-host:3000/
Prometheus server => http://docker-host:9090/

Prometheus server

When you go to PromDash add a server with the exact url http://192.168.99.100:9090/ - this will allow promdash to be able to see the prometheus scraper
