Support for long file names #9

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Long file names doesn't seem to be supported. On dragging a file with a long
file name to a drive mounted with win-sshfs a dialog box appears and ask to
rename the file.

What version of the product are you using?

win-sshfs: 0.0.1.4
Client OS: Windows XP SP3
Server OS: Debian 6.0
Ssh server: sftp-server

Please provide any additional information below.

I noticed the same issue and I would not say that the file name need to be even
that long realy.
I created a new .txt document and dragged it to drive mounted with win-sshfs to
test this issue. I found that it allowd me to drag 12 characters long filename
there without forcing me to rename. Filename includes .txt extension. So
Document.txt and 12345678.txt are fine but 13 chars long filename requires
renaming.

Then I created a new directory and renamed it insaid the win-sshfs mounted
share from my win xp host. I found that 8 characters was max it allwed me to
give to directory.

If I ssh to the remote host and there rename the file with longer filename,
then refresh the directory with XP and everything is allright. I can read, edit
and save the file without problems.

So if I need to create file with my xp I just let win-sshfs to rename the file
for me as it likes. I can easily go and rename the file again with ssh client
and work with that file.

Thank you so much for your great work. If there is anything that you'd like me
to provide more information I'm more than pleased to help you if I can.

Screenshots from the errors.

I read some posts and seems that sometime Windows XP thinks that remote drives
don't support long filenames. Try this version and tell me does it work
