WOL Packet Alternative #53

This is not a bug, but a suggested enhancement which would expand the capabilities of WakeOnLAN. Similar to having a shutdown command line when establishing a new host, I suggest that having the ability to execute an alternative to a WOL packet by executing a tool or executable via a command line to wake up a virtual machine since virtual machines do not receive the packet. Specifically for VMWare, tools can be used and executed to wake the virtual machine up. I use WakeOnLAN for both physical and logical virtual machines, but the usefulness for VMs is limited as I can only shut them down.

I have contemplating this for a while, because I have lots of VMWare servers.

What would convince you to take the plunge? I can certainly beta test for you and throw a few bucks your way...

I'm reading the vmware api now. I use ESXi 5.5 at home, and 6.0 at work. What about you?

Currently using 6.0 Update 2 at home and at work. 6.5 is now out, but haven't yet considered upgrading.
