HDMI issue when using RPi3B+ over home theatre system #5828

Open Konsider opened 2 years ago

Konsider commented 2 years ago

Issue: RPi3B+ plugged into a YAMAHA HTR-2071 home theatre system, going to a LG 65UM7510PLA 65-Inch UHD 4K HDR Smart LED TV. Version v31 works with no issues. However, v32 (and latest beta) do not boot.

Expected Result: For Batocera to boot via home theatre to TV.

Reproduction: 1.Install v32

  1. Connect RPi3B+ to home theatre. Home theatre connected to TV.
  2. Batocera does not boot at all.

More Info: Spoke with Atari on Discord. Tried all suggestions, including setting max resolution to 1080p. Upon his advice, filing this report.

This might actually be a Raspberry Pi issue. I had a similar issue with my Pi4 where it wouldn't boot with my projector off. I ended up following the instructions here. I wonder if it would fix this issue too. https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=253312#:~:text=Re%3A%20Pi%204%20won't%20boot%20without%20HDMI%20plugged%20in,-Sat%20Oct%2005&text=Use%20sudo%20raspi%2Dconfig%20to,display%20device%20is%20not%20created.

Specifically: Adding hdmi_force_hotplug=1 to /boot/config.txt

Edit: Konsider stated the above did not work

try using hdmi_safe=1 in the config.txt file.

try using hdmi_safe=1 in the config.txt file.

This does not work either.

I have now had this issue on two separate RPi3, and two different monitor setups.
