for cleaning of video heads as they are easily ripped out using this method. Using a piece of paper is easier and safer.

I've used PEC PADS mostly for cleaning heads, which might be classified as lint-free cloths rather than paper. I agree with not using cotton swabs but perhaps more detail is required than 'paper'? Like what kind of paper?

Regular writing paper is fine, just put some IPA on it so that it's wet, carefully hold it onto the drum with one finger and spin the drum a few times.

For most video heads, I use 4x4 tight weave, lint-free cotton. Cleantex CT304A: https://cleantex.com/old/products/wipers/cottonwipe.htm

For certain machines, I use Chemtronics chamois tips, but they're expensive: https://www.chemtronics.com/chemtronics-chamois-tip-swabs

We also use chamois tips.
