Problem syncing some files (some files are being corrupted) #118

I'm using

I know the title is vague but I will explain this as much as I can.

First of all, I short explanation. I noticed that some of my files (mostly pictures as far as I have checked) are corrupted, and there is a copy of these files in the VGrive trash that are the original files not corrupted. I think this is really important, I can't use a program that could be corrupting my files.

I've been using VGrive for a few months since I couldn't find any other free working solution when I was trying to migrate my data to Google Drive. I was happy about this little program that was helping me. It took some time to download everything, but after a few days I had all of my Google Drive data in my PC. I noticed that there are some problems with the download speed, but there was already a report for that, so I just accepted it for now. But then I got another problem, there were some files that were being deleted and downloaded again everyday. I thought it wasn't a big deal if my data was there when I needed, and there were some pictures, not files I needed for everyday use. Slow download speeds made it a little more annoying, but I could accept it. I was trying to understand if there was any pattern on those files before making a report about the problem.

A few days ago I tried to add more folders with a lot of files to my Google Drive, but VGrive always crashed when trying to sync them. After that I stop using VGrive because it wasn't useful for me if I couldn't add more folders. The problem had already been reported (glib error during sync) and I thought there was nothing I could do.

After I stop using VGrive I noticed that the trash folder is huge (100+ GBs, all those file being deleted and downloaded everyday) and started checking it. Most are single file (70+ GBs) but there are also some folders. I started comparing the folders before deleting them, and I found out that some of the files in my Google Drive folders can't be opened (or have some kind of error when I do), and the copy in the trash have no errors. I think the problem might be that in some of the times the files were deleted and downloaded agein a few files might have been corrupted in the download process, and then VGrive uploaded the new corrupted file when syncing. To be clear, not all the files that were deleted and downloaded again are corrupted, but a few are. Still a big problem since I won't ever know which ones until I open them.

I haven't been able to understand what causes the problem, but most of the files that were deleted and downloaded many times (but not all of them) have names that start with an underline ("_", this is the default of my camera and I don't always change the name, now I will). I don't know if this is the origin of the problem, but could be.

I appreciate that VGrive is saving my files into a trash folder, now I can rescue my corrupted files, but if anyone is having any similar situation be careful if you don't want to lose data.

I tried to explain the problem as much as I can, but if there is any more information that I haven't said and could be useful let me know.
