There is an interstitial page for deleting your account.
This requires you to select a "yes" radio button three times.
The order between the "yes" and "no" options is randomized. So someone who wants to leave is likely to misclick at least once.
If you do misclick, you get a message that says "see? you don't really want to leave". All evidence points to the person wanting to leave; if they decided they wanted to keep their account, they'd have closed that page rather than finding the link to the interstitial and then hitting the "delete my account" button.
If you delete your account successfully, it says "we won't judge you" -- also supercilious.
A reasonable implementation would be an interstitial page with "yes, delete my account" and "no, don't delete my account" buttons, where neither choice has a smug message associated with it.
If I'm deleting my account, I've probably decided that the community is not worth being a part of; this account deletion workflow twists the knife in that extra bit.
