Update readme #62

This PR looks big but actually there are only 3 things going on:

  1. We'd committed a merge conflict by mistake so I've removed the "<<<<< HEAD" etc from the main text.
  2. I've moved around some text in the README
  3. There are a bunch of whitespace changes - you can view the PR without them by checking the "Hide whitespace changes" button (see here for details)

Should be a super easy one to review and merge quickly. Thank you!
