seems more of an etcher issue not burning the image correctly, If the image is being created from etcher, I don't believe you need to unpack it using 7-Zip, the tar.gz file should be directly selected in etcher. If not then try an other version of etcher or extract and use dd to flash the image on the sdcard

Hi, I have downloaded the .gz and the checksum is correct. 7-Zip unpacks it successfully. Whenever I write the image Etcher always reports a checksum error following completion. If I use the image it hangs at "Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes. Could your image be faulty? Rgds.
