Samsung multi-window #865

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What device are you using?
Samsung Note Pro 12.2

Please provide any additional information below.
In the paid version there is ability to use the app in multi-window mode. But
in my opinion free version is more stable and has additional options (e.g. OPDS
and local network support). Can you create a paid version, based on the free
one? Or add multi-window support to the free app. It can be enabled after
buying some license...

Are you sure that free version more stable? Both versions has the same engine.
Please check that in unstable version SIMD decoding option turned off. Right
now there are some hard to eliminate bugs in SIMD support. But we are working
on that.

Yes, SIMD was on. I used the paid one with vertical scrolling and often saw
blank pages and "decoder is restarting" message. The free version I use in
single page mode - may be it's the reason.
And the paid app every run shows changelog.
Btw, it has no FAQ page in About :-)

P.S.: and after closing a book the paid app everytime shows "Save/Save and
close" dialog. I didn't create any note or something that should be saved.

Now I've installed the both free and paid versions at the same time with same
settings - no issues described above.
SIMD is on.

Is it possible to make support for multi-window in pop-up view? Now it can be
used in side-by-side view only.
And can you, please, add page flipping in single page mode when S-Pen hovers a
screen edge? Currently page scrolling with S-Pen is possible in continue view
modes only.

Can you please clarify some things:

1. I do not understand what is "multi-window in pop-up view"? Maybe some
screenshot?

2. What gesture are you want to use for flipping by hovering screen edge? IMHO
Just entering edge area can produce a lot of mistakes.

Am I right that you mean Samsung's Pen Window mode? OK, I'll add this in next
version.

Original comment by Andrei.K...@gmail.com on 22 Sep 2014 at 9:35

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
1. It's floating window mode, screenshots will be attached in next message.
2. I'm talking about S-Pen, not a finger touch. When the pen is crossing the
right or bottom edge of the screen - go to the next page, the left or top edge
- go to the previous one. Just like in vertical scrolling mode.
In "hovering mode" S-Pen doesn't touch the screen, so no mistakes are possible.

Yes, it's about Samsung'pen.

I cannot add the attachment - don't see any option to.
May be it's because of "Issue attachment storage quota exceeded" text below the
text input field.

PS: to make it more clear - yes, Pop-up view = Pen Window air command, it just
can be called with or without S-Pen usage.

Blank pages and "decoder is restarting" bugs are easily can be reproduced in my
environment in the both versions by following steps:
1. Download english user manual from
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-P9000ZKVXAR
2. Open it and in the table of contents at page 6 click on Multi Window section
- you will go to page 32 and it will be blank. Periodically "decoder is
restarting" message will appear, will you just stay at that page or go
backward/forward.
But the page is not blank and preinstalled Hancom viewer has no issues with
this document.
3. If you'll stay at page 32, close the manual and reopen it, you'll see the
same blank page and "decoder is restarting"...

So it's impossible to view the page 32 at all.
There are other examples, but this example is stable buggy :-)
SIMD on/off doesn't affect this.

OK. These documents are severely corrupted and a lot of pages can not be
rendered at al by any PDF viewers. I fixes EBDs engine crashes and decoder
restarting for such pages, but corrupted pages are rendered as white. Such
behaviour is copied from Adobe Acrobat Reader from PC.

Do you talk about the above-mentioned document, Note12 user manual?
Any other PDF viewer has no issues with it, including PC software, though I
didnt check it with Adobe Reader.
And "decoder is restarting" showed on many documents that the app can display
correctly after restarting, not only on blank pages. I think one of the case is
when page scrolling is fast.

bytes)

I tried Google chrome PDF plugin, evince, Adobe reader 9, xpdf, Master PDF
EditorFoxit Reader. Pages 23-107 can not be displayed.

Here is link for file that I tried:

If you talking about page 32 in
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201405/20140517031207175/GEN_SM-P90
0_Galaxy_Tab_PRO_KK_English_User_Manual_NAE_F5_AC.pdf

Then crash was caused by invalid link on that page and also fixed.

Just checked ***NAE_F5_AC.pdf with updated free version - yes, there is no
blank pages anymore, thanks :-)
But page 31 displayed incorrectly - plz check.

Also I downloaded and tried to view ***NAE6_F2.pdf with preinstalled Hancom
viewer - pp.23-58 are blank, but 59 and above displayed Ok.
With EbookDroid pp.59+ are blank and "decoder is restarting" displayed on each
page scroll.

Can you please be more specific% what is wrong on page 31 in ***NAE_F5_AC.pdf?

I see the same as in Acrobat reader on PC.

And about ***NAE6_F2.pdf pages 59+: Can you please create a screenshot from
Hancom viewer with that page opened?

Original comment by Andrei.K...@gmail.com on 15 Oct 2014 at 12:56

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Sorry! You are right! I downloaded file again and now pages 59+ are present in
file and displayed. It seems that samsung is updating that file right now.
Maybe some sync or backup restoring process is going on right now.

Thank you.

About page 31: Please check that you turned off Automatic page cropping or set
crop bounds manually for that page. Cropping algorithm is not perfect and
sometimes can crop significant parts of image.

About ***NAE6_F2.pdf - I committed fix for this bug today at midday, so it will
be available in next version.

Yes, p.31 is a cropping issue. And when updated paid version will be available?
Btw, does "Local network" require internet or any additional permissions? I
don't think it's very necessary, but it's nice to see that future in the paid
version, if no additional permissions are required :-)

Original comment by Bvo...@gmail.com on 15 Oct 2014 at 2:14

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Both versions will be updated to 2.1.14 this week.

Unfortunately even "Local" network requires permission "Internet access".
That's why we removed it from donation version.
