Many of the biological hypotheses that people posed to me at GSA involved needing traits that involved with respect to a time-series of environmental change, or with respect to a discrete regime reconstructed down the tree, using ACE or stochastic mapping. So, I really think we need to write intrinsic model functions that take those aspects into account, and have those capababilities upon release - possibly lexical scoping functions that make intrinsic model functions, if given regimes/ environmental variables.
Environmental time-series are relatively easy - regime painting will take some thought and hard work.
