As per the EDN spec:

Symbols begin with a non-numeric character and can contain alphanumeric characters and . * + ! - _ ? $ % & =.

Thanks. Yea. That change went into the spec with edn-format/edn@180328d96e0e48176618e2a92044bb23c5528593 and I missed it.

Will be fixed in 0.4.3, which I just released via oss.sonatype.org. I anticipate that it will be available on maven central by 2013-06-19 (Tomorrow).
