Project collaborators: Valentina Borghesani @valentinaborghesani Johanna Bayer @likeajumprope Selim Atay @i-am-mel-dev Franco Pestilli @francopestilli Jose Pedro Manzano Patron @josepman Malin Sandström @malinINCF Yasmin Basille @yasminebassil Isil Bilgin @complexbrains

Registered Brainhack Global 2020 Event: Brainhack Montreal

Project Description: The project aims to bring together Brainhack and Open Science terminologies together in one glossary to help the newcomers to guide them through with their quick integration with the community tools and resources and provide a centralized glossary for the main community to be used for the future references.

In this project, we would like to make the glossary a step further and make it accessible by removing the language barriers and translate it to the as possible different languages with the help of the community.

Data to use: The glossary itself and references listed at the bottom of the glossary and any other community developed open science glossaries to match the references.

Goals for Brainhack Global 2020: Making the glossary completed with the all necessary terminologies to serve the best of the community and translate it into different languages to make it more accessible to the communities around the world.

Good first issues:

Skills: The native or advanced level speaker in the language of being translated. Basic knowledge in using Git/Github/Commit/opening a PR might be helpful but not necessary.

Tools/Software/Methods to Use: Github repository Google docs

All seems good now!

Hello friends!

Quick update, looks like our roadmap (pending your thoughts, of course) would be: :one: Open one issue per language :two: Work collaboratively on one google doc per language (linked to the issue!) :three: Merge one PR per language once matching current English version (let's say EN of day  )

Please write your name here next to the language(s) you can help with - the first person is responsible of opening the "translating glossary to X" issue and starting the corresponding google doc to ensure anyone else can help out.

There is one technical detail we are leaving for the experts which is to decide how the various languages would appear on the book: this aspect needs to be solved before the actual PRs but it's not that urgent.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

@vborghe @likeajumprope I created an issue template to open a new translation request with some definitions and so on. So anyone who wants to volunteer for the future can use this template :hugs:
