Thanks for the idea of updating this metadata! Could we point folks at the documentation as the first URL they visit, instead?

The PyPI URL is not a valid URL in this context, as it is on that page that this url is shown.

It's also viewed when folks look at the source or browse the packages on their system, where the PyPI URL makes more sense — but you're right that it would create the odd situation on PyPI itself of a self-referencing project page.
