Source-Forge repos conversion #24

Hi E

The night-hawk SF repos is read only. Two make it read/write, the repos has to be converted to either git or subsubversion repos.

https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documentation/CVS/

I can't do this function unfortunately. It's an owner/admin function.

Okay, I'll get onto that this afternoon or this evening. Sorry about that.

Eric,

Could you please upload the Nighthawk 4.0 Debian and tarball files to this directory:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/night-hawk/files/night-hawk/nighthawk-4.0/

and then update this page. It doesn’t have to be flash. A one liner with the 4.0 Debian and tarball links will be fine:

https://night-hawk.sourceforge.io/dl.php

It’s been over a week since I announced Nighthawk. Nighthawk 2.3 download activity has become active on Sourceforge. Users (potentially bundlers) are downloading 2.3 thinking that it’s the game they saw in the two vimeo videos. This is no good because 2.3 is unbuildable !. This is undermining 4.0’s release and hurting the project’s reputation.

Optional: Put the other “stuff”: promotional videos, frozen archives, and videos onto Sourceforge. I can’t see a way of downloading what you want on git. You’re forced to suck down the entire repos. For users with poor Internet services, this makes the game exclusive to those with big Internet. Where as Sourceforge does allow individual items to be downloaded. All the historical or developmental stuff is good. Plus the videos are good as well. You could eventually link them into your web site.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/night-hawk/files/night-hawk

I’ve uploaded this stuff back to git (located in "sourceforge_stuff"). I hope you can apply my recommendation. If not, then do as you please with them.

Sorry about the delay. nighthawk-4.0 is uploaded to Sourceforge, as are the files in sourceforge-frozen-archive. Most of them duplicate content that was already up in the other directories. I'll get a new set of links up into the dl page. Incidentally, I've also added you as a maintainer to the Sourceforge project. I forgot to mention it as I'd done it earlier today.

Thanks Eric. That's awesome :)

Nb/ I'm not fussed how SF repos is formatted/organised (you can make directories for 1.0, 2.0, 2.2, 2.3 as per your existing convention and remove the frozen archives directory). That's up to you :). 4.0 is on there, and that is the main thing. We can now move on !. Look forward to seeing your revamped page when it's finished :D

I've just done a google search for "Nighthawk 4.0" and it comes up as a hit on SF. It's out there !. Epic :D
