Can't load plugins into Ableton 11 or Bitwig 4.1.2 #33

For bug reports

Operating system(s): Windows 10 64-bit 21H2 Version of Rack if using official binary, or commit hash and branch if compiling from source: VCVRack:v2.0.5 All hardware relevant to your issue (e.g. graphic card model, audio/MIDI device): Radeon Pro WX3100, Radeon RX550, SSL 2+ ASIO

Plugins don't show up during scan, both Ableton and Bitwig refuse to let me load the .dll files manually; I get a crossed out circle icon for a mouse cursor when I try this

Both instrument and effect VCVR plugins load fine into VSThostx64, no problems

Tried restarting machine, running both as admin, still won't load. Tried deleting preferences files and cache, still wont load

Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sorry I'm confused, I have the standalone VCVR which works fine no problems there, I'm trying to get these plugins to work inside Bitwig and Ableton. I think its 0.6.1? I just downloaded it from github a few hours ago

your post mentioned v2.0.5, that's what got me confused.

if you are indeed using VSVR (0.6.x), make sure that the entire vst2_bin/ folder is in the host plugin path.

I vaguely recall that someone once resolved a similar issue by not placing the plugin in a deeply nested folder structure (cannot remember which host required that).

I've tested VSVR in both Ableton Live and Bitwig and it worked fine (just re-tested it with the latest Live version 11.0.12).

Well I got them to work inside Bitwig. Was never able to manually drag and drop the .dlls, but after deleting the Bitwig preferences file and Index folder, then running Bitwig as admin, they were both picked up during the plugin scan.

This is the exact same procedure I tried initially; not sure what I did differently this time that made it work, but not complaining!
