Current approach sets icons as generated content of the parent element, this approach has issues where needing to consider how visual screen presentation work in conjunction with screen readers. Hiding the generated content with aria roles could have the unwanted effect of hiddding the text content too.
A re-think of this markup & styles changes the generated content to be hooked to a new span element in the message parent element allowing better control.
A re-factoring of the rulesets replicates the original visual style & improves using flex-box to align the items vertically.
