Implement "Lucky" skill #2349

Open irilyth opened 6 years ago

irilyth commented 6 years ago

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheapassgames/button-men-beat-people-up/posts/2166976 says

When you make an attack with a Lucky Die, if you don't like the first roll, you can roll it again and keep the second result. When a Lucky Die is captured, the dice that captured it gain the same ability for that roll.

The new buttons in the forthcoming Button Murderer set will include this skill.

Who usually asks Cheapass for the images?

irilyth commented 5 years ago

There isn't a whole lot of "usually"; there's only been one new set from Cheapass before this one. :^)

As it turns out, I volunteered to write to them last time, so I guess it's been me 100% of the time?

TheOrgg commented 3 years ago

Irilyth, did you ever get the images for this set from James?

irilyth commented 3 years ago

Hm, I don't think I ever asked. Lemme do that now!

TheOrgg commented 3 years ago

Greater than Games sent me the files. How do these look for Buttonweavers? Making them into buttons'll take a lot longer, but if that's needed, I'm willing to do so.

Also, we need someone to make sure I didn't make any mistakes with the images' recipes. I know @dwvanstone usually'll check, but anyone can feel free. https://buttonmen.fandom.com/wiki/Murderers

Here's the flavor texts for the set.

Doctor J. Robert Lucky Doctor Lucky is a despicable philanthropist whose closest friends labor tirelessly to murder him. He likes rat poison, ducking, and the sweet music of distant ice cream, and he likes to beat people up.

Augustijn Oraange Augustijn Oraange is a professional gambler and a compulsive liar. He possesses a dossier riddled with rich and lurid details which promises to destroy Doctor Lucky forever, and he likes to beat people up.

Cathcart Brunsonby Cathcart Brunsonby is a longtime friend and ally of Doctor Lucky, who has on occasion helped him escape from the personal jams that men of substance must sometimes escape. But seriously, enough is enough.

Faultleroy Shabozz A philosophy student and patchwork of bad habits, Faultleroy Shabozz finds himself deep in a moral quandary regarding the nefarious dealings of his very own ethics professor, Doctor J. Robert Lucky.

Fay Chanceworth Perhaps she loved him once. She was young and foolish. And he was the same old man she knows and hates today. Fay Chanceworthy likes alligators, distance, French cuisine, and the beating up of people.

Gail Russo Gail Russo is a fashion designer from Madagascar. She likes large birds, the fresh breezes of an open marketplace, and fair games of stick and ball. She hates Doctor Lucky, and she likes to beat people up.

Gerthne Wildbloom Gerthne Wildbloom sometimes visits museums with no intention of robbing them. She likes revenge, the never-ending search for her long-lost half-sister, and beating people up.

Janet Principle Janet Principle is going to have some harsh words for that old man the next time they meet. She likes yachts, chemistry, and table reads, and she likes to beat people up.

Johnny Archer Little is known about the mysterious international playboy Johnny Archer. So little. Such mystery.

"Kudos" Gwynne Marybeth "Kudos" Gwynne is an airplane mechanic and science fiction writer. She has tracked Doctor Lucky to a mysterious tropical island where she hopes to kill him, and she like to beat people up.

Meymun Smelt Meymun Smelt is a talented musician who craves the solace of the open sea. He distrusts all men, especially those who remind him of his father, and he likes to beat people up.

Mumfort Consequence Mumfort flies into a jealous rage three times before breakfast. There is nothing precious to him that his nemesis Doctor Lucky has not ruined. He logs dogs, skiing, and waitresses, and he likes to beat people up.

"News" McCauley No one is born a criminal

Proximo Domingo Proximo Domingo would have been happy to settle for fifty cents on the dollar, but the old man has no respect. He likes geese, orchids, and setting the record straight, and he likes to beat specific people up.

Quincette Small Her father was once a good friend of Doctor Lucky. But where is he now? A mystery for the ages. Most likely abandoned on an icy shore when the Doctor's vampire banana ship ran afoul of the sky gazelles.

Rose & Lily Some things time and sadness cannot divide. The world of Rosaline and Lilian Sutclyffe holds together even when battered by the sledgehammer of jealousy and rage, growing ever stronger and more resolute.

Skeeter Hopkins Toby "Skeeter" Hopkins is a marksman and dog trainer. He has lately set his sights on a moving target: the insufferable elitist Doctor J. Robert Lucky. He likes farms, flamenco, fisheye lenses, and beating people up.

"Stacks" McCracken You don't get to be the thirteenth most famous illusionist in the tri-state area without making a few enemies. Roland "Stacks" McCracken delights in entertaining children, and he likes to beat people up.

It looks to me that the recipes match the images you've made.
