I'm sure we had a thread about this someplace, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.
In any case, I believe that James Ernest is mistaken about the pi die.
The pi die would be implemented on the same lines as the 19.5.
Also, there is a point at which implementing joke buttons is going too far. I don't know where that point is, but it's so far behind this one that you can't even see it any more.
We started discussion of this on #1303, and James Ernest's comments on his own button are on #372.
This one... is the creator of the game himself. I can see not worrying about Bob, even if we find out what the 'A' swing's range is...
But this seems more like a tribute.
It's not the best button in the world...
We already have a playable button for James Ernest; we don't need to jump through the absurd hoops required for this one for that reason.
Funny enough, James Ernest doesn't remember where The James Beast came from, and denied it was from the XXXenophile game directly when asked.
I've been thinking about this issue a bit, and I think it would be fine if we implemented a tribute version of this button. It would need the artwork slightly altered (a bit like Reggie Rage) to make it clear that we're not actually implementing the original unimplementable recipe.
Something like "Jms rnst" or "James Ernest Clone" or "Robot James Ernest"
So... how about "Cheapass James?" (3) ~M(100) (0) (X) ? The biggest difference there is the inf. die will be worth two points instead of zero, assuming Max or Vincent don't capture it.
I didn't do the stats, but how about this for tribute artwork?
And that would require the 'Deception Die' that's worth four points when captured and two when kept(from the "Gaming Guardians" set...
Also, that's a very rough draft. I know tricks to get rid of the edit marks, but that was just to get the idea done up.
I finished the dice and made it even more obviously not the original button.
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like doing a version of this button without the pi, infinity, etc. dice would be... losing the point? Why bother doing it in that case?
Tribute.
Also, I showed my 'art' to my sister and she asked why there was a d*** on the bottom. I grabbed the old icon I was trying to recreate and shrunk it down.
Think of this as the lite beer version of James Ernest. The Cheapass version, if you will.
The James Beast was a promo/stand alone button sold by Studio Foglio, immortalizing him in the form he was drawn in for the comic strip in the What''s New button set. (Which is pretty funny)
The explanation goes something like this:
"With me is James Ernest, the game''s creator, who for some reason insists on being drawn like this."
"Chicks dig it."
Here's where he appeared in that form. Warning: Mild nudity.

Didn't know about that one. Looks like that's just how Phil draws him. This is the more relevant to the button''s origins. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zkk48pmse8c2qqr/20191029_140448.jpg?dl=0
So James Ernest (as you probably know) has a pi die, infinite die, mathematical term 'i' die used to do something with imaginary numbers, and a normal (X)-Swing.
The first one he's ruled is a d3. The second should be able to capture anything, be uncapturable, and count for no points at the end of a game (since you can't count to infinity), and the last one is a normal die.
I have no clue if you want to implement this one. Same thing goes for Bob and his two Triplet dice and new Swing Die variable.
