If I understand that happens both playing online and downloading is that true? Can you run the AppImage from console? Tell me if something interesting is shown, probably a missing library or library version problems.

That is correct. This is what I get when I open it in the terminal.

You could try installing those Gstreamer plugins, it's like there is some relation.
.deb package didn't work on Debian 12 because the github action is compiling it for ubuntu 20.04, probably I will update to run on ubuntu 22.04.
If compiling Cardo from source is not a problem for you (and if you are using debian that's probably the case) you can try that way also.
Anything I can do to make it work better on Linux please tell me. Regards.
