Hey. Running this script or using the sof-setup-audio script from the latest commit still doesn't enable the audio device on Breath. Apologies for not getting back sooner, I didn't have access to the chromebook last week.

Try refollowing all of the instructions to build Breath (including re-cloning the git repo). Normally I wouldn't tell users to do this, but that should fix it for sure.
Alternatively, you could just run (as root/sudo su

Not removing the SOF firmware before installing it produces a broken symlink with no SOF firmware. I've also fixed this in the latest commit of sof-setup-audio

I tried recloning the repo and reflashing the USB - something I noticed was after running the command

the result was:

So I ran instead:

Might the Ubuntu version be affecting the install of the audio drivers?

I think you got the first error since you're on 22.10 (which isn't released), and the script uses the host's Ubuntu version from a minimal and stable cloud image.
Just wondering, did audio not work after running setup-audio
and then sof-setup-audio
? Or are you just saying that the setup-audio
part isn't necessary and it works either way?

Audio wasn't working for me when running setup-audio
, then sof-setup-audio
. On reflashing the image and only running sof-setup-audio
the audio is working, although I am experiencing nonlinear volume control for the speakers. Bluetooth audio volume curve is fine though. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Btw, the microphone appears to be working without any need for further modification. I tested it by installing audacity and selecting sof-glkda7219max:- (hw:0,99)
as the recording device.
I do have a 3.5mm jack option for my headphones, and can confirm that the chromebook doesn't switch over to the headphones when the audio jack is plugged in, and there is no option to switch to headphones from alsamixer or the sound preferences in control center. I'm happy to try out the chromebook's audio jack if you want to share the .zip file with me.
I have the same Chromebook model, I'm able to get most of the way there to working sound with sof-setup-audio
, and after rebooting I have to force-reload ALSA, from there sound works. However after a reboot from this state seems to break sound again, and reloading ALSA doesn't make it work again. I'm unsure of how to make sound work between reboots from here.
