Using _variables.yaml and the {{< var something >}} shortcode is maybe not worth it. I thought originally that this would make it easy to edit things throughout the template to customize, but now I think that might actually prevent a careful reading of the boilerplate text already there and introduce unnecessary complexity that won't get used after the template is adopted by a lab group.
