change print statements to print function
removed pylab imports

pylab is intended for interactive use, not use in scripts. We are trying to discourage it's use and there is a someone squating on pylab on pypi (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pylab) which can confuses users which results in bug reports to the mpl mailing lists.

Excellent, thanks. We'll do some testing, but looks straightforward enough on the face of it.
