Some Episodes are not being detected as being recorded

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Subtitles exist in oldrecorded table but are not being detected by mythepisode, 
tried tvrage and thetvdb data

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

In episodes.php add the $sub, $day, and print lines after line 258 like this

        while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($getSubtitles)) {
            $recDate[]     = date('Y-m-d', strtotime($row['starttime']));
            $recEpisodes[] = strtolower($row['subtitle']);
$sub = strtolower($row['subtitle']);
$day = date('Y-m-d', strtotime($row['starttime']));
print "$sub - $day<br>";
        }

Now click on the show again and see what gets printed out at the top.  You 
should see all of the episodes in lower case that you have recorded for the 
show.

I don't record this series, however I did just record an episode and it shows 
up as being recorded in mythepisode.  I also, scheduled for recording the 
episode you listed above and it shows within mythepisode that it is scheduled 
for recording.  

Let me know what you get from the output and I can help debug it further.

ok recstatus looks like the problem, I know some of these I've manually 
inserted due to the dual episode airing, what do each of the recstatus's mean?

Still not showing after setting all recording to recstatus = '-3' the ones set 
to never record were because I've seen them before

You shouldn't be getting any errors at the top of the output.  Verify that the 
episodes.php matches what was originally contained in the tar file.

Also,
run this query and see if you get what you think you should have.

SELECT subtitle,starttime FROM oldrecorded
                                      WHERE title like '%How I Met Your Mother'
                                        AND (recstatus = '-2' OR recstatus = '-3')
                                   Group BY programid

This is the same query I run to get previous recordings.

You might also want to include programid in your query you are running above.  
Since I'm doing an order by programid you might have issues if your programid 
is messed up.

The programid is used to determine if a program has been recorded when checking 
for duplicate matches.  You could assign some random programid and it would 
work in mythepisode, however if the episode comes on tv again mythtv might 
rerecord it as it doesn't see a match for the programid in the oldrecorded 
table.  But since you have a blank programid for some shows now this would be 
the case anyway.

I dont believe this is the case, the whole reason I started inserting these 
records is so they dont get re-recorded when aired again and I can confirm this 
works without having a programid, I do have duplicate checking using Subtitle 
only though.

You should be able to add a unique bogus programid for each of the shows and 
they will show up in mythepisode as being recorded

Glad I could help.  I've been wanting to fix a small issue that I was seeing.  
I just didn't feel like digging into the code.  This gave me the opportunity to 
do that.  I'm going to close this ticket as "Not a problem" since it's really 
not an issue with the code.

Did you remove all of the print/echo statements I had you add?  What version of 
mythtv/mythweb are you running?  Have you always gotten these error messages?  
Is it only the first time you go to a show or everytime?

Yes I did, was also having this before adding the echo statements, I cant 
recall if this was an issue on the older version I was running I upgraded when 
I had the missing episodes issue.

Did you make the required changes to episodes.php for use with .24? 

The classes in lines 14-17 should be commented out.

I made a selection option for mythtv version.  Since I don't run mythtv .24+ I 
would appreciate if you could test this out and provide feedback.

All you need to do is move your old modules/episode version to episode_hold
tar -zxvf episode_test.tar.gz under the module directory.
run 

-  cd /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/_shared/lang
-  ./build_translation.pl

In mythweb navigate to the mythepisode configuration options.  Select .24+ for 
mythtv version and save.  Then navigate to one of your shows and see if it 
displays the episodes.

Thanks for testing it.  It looks like I will have to wait to finish this when I

mythweb/mythepisode configuration options and set/save the mythtv version as

config options I recommend you read the configuration options in the 
installation instructions.  The override settings are very useful for 
particular shows.

I find this works better

The problem with grouping by subtitle is that many shows have the same subtitle 
for different seasons.  Usually reality shows like Hell's Kitchen, American 
Idol, etc.  There are also a number of shows that don't have subtitles.  I 
believe mythtv will create a programid for each show it records.

All mythepisode related data is stored under your base mythweb directory under 
data/episode.  For my installation on ubuntu it is under 
/var/www/mythweb/data/episode.

Whats the naming convention for the shows data?

CSI: Miami appears as Csimiami

appears to be First Letter Uppercase then all lowercase and spaces and special 
characters removed....

Would this hold true for all shows?

Cool...A couple of recommendations if you don't mind.

- I would either prompt for the password or pass it in as an argument so that 
it doesn't have to be hardcoded
- Instead of hardcoding the path /storage/recordings/episode/shows I would 
suggest either prompting for the path or passing in as an argument.
- Although you are only using episode and subtitle I would update this to make 
it correct and possibly usable for future things.  
col_names => 'episode,airdate,subtitle,description' should be
col_names => 'episode,airdate,subtitle,link,description'
I've never used DBI::AnyData but it's pretty cool and will use in the future.
- Some systems don't come with DBD::mysql or DBD::AnyData so I would update the 
script header to let the potential user know that they need to be installed on 
their system, otherwise they might get errors when attempting to run the script 
and not understand why.  I use Ubuntu and I have DBD::mysql, but not 
DBD::AnyData

Thanks for providing the script.  I will include it in my next build.  One of 
the things I hope to do in the future is to add the ability from the episode 
page to mark an episode as recorded which would use the same data that you are 
using to update the DB.

I installed mythtv .24 on another system.  Here is a test version of 
mythepisode that allows you to choose your version of mythtv in the config 
options.  you can just mv your current copy to episode_orig and extract this 
version under modules.
