@lydia-duncan - if it's easy for you, can you test this? I've gotten some of the pychapel tests to run but it's not push-button enough for me to reproduce the nightly testing failures. And, can you review? Thanks!

I'm rerunning the Travis build for master to see if that would have picked up on the error - I suspect it will, in which case the Travis run for this PR is sufficient to guarantee it works, imo.

Travis testing on master (w/o this PR) picks up on all of the errors.
