Tell us about your setup:

  1. iPhone 5s and iPad mini 2
  2. iOS 12.5.2, 12.5.1?
  3. 0.12.3
  4. macOS 11.3 (20E5196f)?
  5. Tried: 1. Apple USB-C. 2. Apple USB-A via adapter to USB-C.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

  1. Connect device
  2. Run checkra1n
  3. Turn into DFU (during instruction)
  4. Got message "reconnect lightning"
  5. Reconnecting lightning.
  6. Got message "Setting up the exploit (this is the heap spray)"
  7. Got error -31 exploit failed.

What do you expect, and what is happening instead? Jailbreak.

Did you see a popup on the device stating it entered "Safe Mode" due to an error? No

Does the issue also occur if you tick "Safe Mode" in the checkra1n options? Yes

What does your USB setup look like? Are you using any kind of dock, or are you connecting directly to a USB-C port on the MacBook?

@Siguza

I tried 2 options:

  1. USB-A ADAPTER satechi + native cable apple usb-a.
  2. USB-C - lightning cable Apple (native).

this is what i tried on my macbook air m1.

i used a lightning - usbc from anker, checkra1n nothing passed the 2nd stage got no error, just didnt read the dual pressing. i used a traditional usb lightning hooked into my dock got error 31 (tried about 10 times) then finally i used lightning usb plugged into the usb c to usb 3 converter from apple directly into the macbook. and it jailbroke fine.

during the process checkra1n did prompt me to remove and reattach the cable.

im on ios 13.5.1
