The published tool installation instructions for GateMate, as well as its published Blinky example, use only Icarus simulator. Yet, Verilator is a much faster, more modern, better supported, and in most aspects more capable / more mainstream simulation tool than Icarus.
While this project is providing sim examples for Verilator, this is to urge CologneChip to include Verilator in their official tools package.
