Hit test for terrain above sky #981

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Go to 
https://code.google.com/apis/ajax/playground/#hit-testing_(x/y_to_lat/lon)
2.  Rotate the camera so that the top of the tower appears above the horizon 
(see attached image)
3.  Click on the portion of the tower above the horizon.

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
I expect the hit test marker to appear where I clicked.  Instead, nothing 
happens.  Clicking below the horizon has the intended behavior.

Which plugin version are you using?
7.1.2.2041

Which browsers and operating systems are affected?
I'm using Mac OSX 10.6.8 using Chrome 33.0.1750.117.

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.
