@mrkz to consider alternatives and find a good one to include by default, if that is possible.
Are there any plans on this feature?
I also suggests to add Topicons plus. Some apps still have legacy tray icons, for example dropbox, and this extension will correctly show those tray icons.
With Topicons plus
itsef, the tray icons would be shown but not rendered correctly, but if KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support
is also activated, then tray icons will work as expected.
Topicons Plus has had some performance issues with GNOME 3.32 - excessive CPU usage. So has Dash to Dock. They may be fixed now, but the 3.32 rollout was very rocky on my machines, which usually run either Arch or Fedora Silverblue.
The system tray interface is deprecated anyhow - it would be better to put pressure on Dropbox to support the current GNOME standard. ;-)
Yeap, Topicons Plus or KStatusNotifierItem "must have" extensions. Topicons has more tweaks which are usefull. KStatus can adapt icon menus to gtk+ style, but doesn't have tweaks at all.
It would be great if anybody could combine these extensions.

I second this. Really important for Teams / Slack.
There are no status app status indicators by default in clear, and it would be great if one was included.
My favourite is KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support as it appears to be the most reliable and well integrated (I believe this is used by Ubuntu). But really, any extension will do.
