vite convention is for index.html file to be in the same directory as other source files
babel is now only used for eslint, vite uses esbuild instead
open question: not sure if browserslist is compatible with esbuild

Looks pretty straightforward to me. nice! i just merged ur other pr, so mind merge the new main in?

I'll try and give an approval soon, i wanna play around with how the built dist plays with a static hosting service like s3. haven't used vite myself

@rgraue no worries! i just rebased. let me know if you run into any trouble getting it to work with s3
