Climate data from Climsoft, Climate Data Management System (CDMS) are used by different stakeholders (Researchers, Students, Government and Non-Government institutions, etc.) for different purposes (e.g. Construction (roads, buildings, and bridges), agriculture, fisheries, tourism and recreation, economic planning, etc.). Most of the time, NMHSs does not keep records of such important information in a professional way for further reference in the future. Some NMHSs uses registers, notebook, spreadsheets, etc. to keep such records. The idea is to have a module to manage and store such information in Climsoft; having such information in Climsoft database can help to find out the number of customers received for a certain period of time and other important detailed information and statistics to inform NMHSs decisions.

I think this is also related to the recent request by some Kenya Met staff at CLIMAT section. I think this can also help Rainfall section here at KMD where they keep rainfall cards for all stations. Initially, they suggested a separated system which could manage issuing, receiving and keeping of cards in boxes or shelves. Currently, they use Excel sheets to record such information and this can become a little tricky to manage and also not easy to track things. They sort of suggest something like a library system where they can easily manage all this king of information. I initially thought of Climsoft to provide these capabilities since it is generally a data management system and they already have it installed in their systems and some of them a very familiar with it.
