Some models have a conjugate grid, in which there are two families of cells with associated cell areas. The CMIP6 request only requests one cell area. A 2nd can be provided using the grid_id label (using, e.g. gn1 for the conjugate cell areas). It may be better to explicitly define a 2nd variable, e.g. areacellastar for such grids.
