Pyscripter unable to see x64 python installs #283

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Python 2.6(x64)
2. Install pyscripter
3. Launch pyscripter from the (latest version) shortcut

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Open to an empty
pyscripter editor with a python 3.0 shell. Instead I receive an error
message about pyscripter being unable to find python.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pyscripter

Please provide any additional information below.
it looks to me like pyscripter can't see x64 installations of python. I've
tried again with the x86 version of python 3.0 installed, and this issue is
not present at that time.

PyScripter does not support x64 builds of Python. You can still run PyScripter
in 64
bit systems but you need to install the 32 bit Python.

I hope to produce a native 64 bit PyScripter application but this may be a year
away.

I've got it working now, thanks for the excellent program. You might want to
note the
x64 issues somewhere, even if it's just a few lines explaining that this is a
known
issue and that installing the 32 bit python is the "official" workaround.

Maybe something like your first comment above.

I have added a note in the installer and pyscripter.googlepages.com.

In the above post you mention PyScripter for 64bit Python and imply it was in
development. Is there any update on the position above? Is any work being
conducted to support 64 bit Python natively in Pyscripter?

Many Thanks,

Hanni

When Delphi with 64 bit support is released, hopefully soon, it would be a
recompile of the existing code.
