I think there is a lot that we can fork from http://codeforphilly.org/
I like the integration Philly has with GitHub. Is that integration a large lift with a wordpress site?
We got an extremely minimal stub in place last night so that @Frymasterspeck can start moving content in. The Philly site looks like it has some nice features we should lift.
Do you want to lift some of the design elements from http://code-island.org/, or are you starting fresh?
@joealba who has the source files for that stuff?
I don't know. Anyone else know where the code-island.org stuff came from?
I was mainly just thinking about the images, as I like the typeface choices you've already made. But it would be helpful long term to know who has the source files for things like the logo especially.
We just set it up using a template last night, I would love to push the visual identity forward taking into account the foundation that has been laid. But I don't want to duplicate work under way. I think @dannychapman may have been doing some stuff already? Danny, what say you?
I would prefer to start from scratch and follow on the CfA stylesheets the way the current stub does. The logo files are in the core documents repo. The photo of Ryan meets the CfA guidelines, but the photos of David and Thom do not. Plus, Shawn and I should be represented as officers and all photos should be similar.
Oh look, a styleguide!
Do we have a centralized collection of images? I saw cameras out at the Tuesday MeetUp. Where do those photos end up?
So far, nowhere. We should probably keep them in the core docs repo and only move the website ones into that folder. My $0.02.
BTW, this is looking rad. Can you create a top-level link for Posts? If you do that, I can put some words on the resources page. At that point, I think we can create the custom URL and change the DNS settings for code-island.org.
I'd actually recommend something like Flickr for image storage since it has some decent browsing and organization tools. Or Google Drive since we're already using some of that infrastructure.
I may have some time to work on the site again tomorrow, I'll get the blog part hooked up next.
