Let's Do This! #9

I'm pretty satisfied with where the site is right now. We're populated in all the crucial areas, and we have three posts in the blog, with more on the way. So I'd really like us to throw the switch. Please give this a click-thru and reply with any last pre-launch items.

When we do...a lot of the links will break because they're to codeisland.github.io not code-island.org.

Let's do this sooner than later, so there will be fewer links to fix.

Question: where are the candidates questionnaire pages? Let's reconstruct at least the responses within the new site.

goldenmeanie commented 9 years ago

Which links are you concerned about breaking?

Do you mean links to the questionnaire? I believe codeisland.github.io should continue to resolve.

joealba commented 9 years ago

I made the codeisland.github.io references that I could find site-relative. That should help for local testing as well as making sure stuff works when the hostname is updated.

I didn't do a very comprehensive check of other links, but I did find a couple of broken links referencing the questionnaire project.

Joe, it's okay to make the static page links site-relative, but don't do that in any of the posts because the separate posts are served in /year/mo/da/ folders.

Alex, all the internal links are to the current domain. If they resolve, then no worries. If they don't it's something on the order of a couple dozen, so a doable amount of work.

goldenmeanie commented 9 years ago

John, I think you mean navigation. In which case it's all set.

Frymasterspeck commented 9 years ago

No, I mean inline links to other pages and/or posts.

Frymasterspeck commented 9 years ago

Although, now that I look more carefully, outside of the questionnaire links, it's just a handful. Even if they break, it'll be easy to fix.

joealba commented 9 years ago

Site-relative links will work across the board, @Frymasterspeck.

Frymasterspeck commented 9 years ago

I was using ../ inappropriately. But that's how I roll. Inappropriately.

joealba commented 9 years ago

Yeah, that's page-relative. That'll bite ya!
