That's a bummer. This pin applies for all other platforms as well? Is the upcoming Ubuntu LTS still shipping with v0.0.1?

Correct, I don't see any Ubuntu or Debian distros shipping 0.0.2 (including sid).

As the Fedora package maintainer, I can tell you that 0.0.2's use of versioneer also makes it more challenging to package than it was before, so I'm holding at 0.0.1 for now in Fedora and RHEL/EPEL.
