@hahoyt Do you remember why I made this function? I thought it was a very rare sequence of events that led to QC script failure and I'm not sure if we need it. In short, do you think it's worth spending time on this or should we just ignore for now then fix at some point in the future or just delete and move on?

After talking to the group, there is a chance we may need this again, so I'll keep it. That said, it's not pressing so I'm going to get the normal qc script sorted out and we can incorporate this code later.
