Cannot reproduce. I followed the exact same commands as yours

Same happens to me, the request "freeze":
root@4d7b39548456:/# curl -v http://host.containers.internal:8080
10.88.0.1 is the gateway

Bug description
Creating a container that expose a port and trying to access the exposed port via host.containers.internal (from the container itself) generate a connection timeout. Accessing others ports exposes by others containers works.
