Conmon processes left behind when using a podman service url #20415

Closed fgiorgetti closed 10 months ago

fgiorgetti commented 11 months ago

Issue Description

I noticed that when I am using a podman endpoint (through --url), then I execute a command against a running container, podman --url <url> exec ... two conmon processes are left and exit after exit_command_delay has been elapsed.

If --url is not used, there is no conmon process left.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Steps to reproduce the issue:

$ id -u
1000
$ systemctl --user enable --now podman.socket
$ podman --url unix:///run/user/1000/podman/podman.sock run -itd --name bb busybox
$ pgrep -fa conmon | wc -l
1
$ podman --url unix:///run/user/1000/podman/podman.sock exec bb ls
$ pgrep -fa conmon | wc -l
3
$ podman --url unix:///run/user/1000/podman/podman.sock exec bb ls
$ pgrep -fa conmon | wc -l
5

Describe the results you received

Every execution of a command using --url leaves two extra conmon processes running.

Describe the results you expected

No conmon processes, related to the execution, left running.

You will find that those conmon processes include the command-line option --exit-delay 300. You will also find that they vanish after five minutes. It's something to do with having to linger around for cleanup, I think....
