Thank you for talking to me today. I hope the information I give you in this email is of benefit to you and if you have any questions then please contact us on the number at the bottom of this message or by email should you prefer that method.

The Open University is able to assist students who declare they have a disability in a variety of ways and we can discuss the types of support available to help you before you commence study so you can make an informed decision should you wish to study with us. If you would like to discuss the type of support we can offer, please reply to this email asking as such so we can put you in contact with the appropriate team.

You can find more general information on the support we offer via the link below.

http://www2.open.ac.uk/study/support/disability

You may be eligible for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), if you are a UK-based student, to help with the extra study costs that result from your disability. This grant doesn’t depend on your income, has no age limit for eligibility and won’t affect any state benefits you receive. You can find out further information about the eligibility requirements and how to apply for this funding via the government website below.

If you have not previously declared a disability, you can do so by updating your profile on StudentHome and completing a Disability Support Form (https://help.open.ac.uk/disability-support-form). A marker will be added to your Student Profile which will trigger an automatic email around about this around 4-6 months before your exam. It is important that you respond to this email with all of the required medical evidence/checklists immediately.

Even if you have applied for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) in the past, we cannot make a decision based solely on the DSA Assessment. If you have a copy of the medical evidence supplied at the time of the assessment, please forward this to us and we can review this.

To make you aware, I am referring this enquiry to our Disabled Support Team in order to contact you further and see how we can help you further. I hope this information is of help to you. If you have any further queries or need any further assistance, please either reply to this email or use the contact details below.

Please contact your Student Support Team on 01908 541 062. We are available Monday through Friday 08:00-20:00; Saturday 09:00-17:00 (GMT). The following link gives our full contact details: http://www.openuniversity.edu/contact-us.

Yours sincerely
