WAVE is holding a workshop on Tuesday, May 10 from 9:30 am-1:30 pm ET to cover some of the decision points which require a deeper discussion than the regular TF/group meetings.

Use this issue tracker to contribute discussion items. These will be collated by the TWG Chair before the meeting and converted in to a presentation deck to drive the agenda for the day.

For each item, please suggest a title, and provide some background text as well as the decision to made or call-to-action. Also state which TF or group you feel the work falls under.

I would be happy to provide an overview on where we stand:

I can provide an overview of CMSD for those not active in the group and also lead a discussion around how implementation might look and any challenges we can anticipate there.

Yes, I can present the DASH-IF watermarking work. I will be remote.

@johnsim John Simmons, Chris Lorenzo and @JohnRiv put together a paper titled "HTML Problem Statement.docx". It's not posted yet, there are some points being clarified. However, this should be a topic for the Forum workshop.

Title: WMAS Test Subset for HbbTV & ASTC Task Force: HATF Description: A joint effort among the BBC, Eurofins, and Fraunhofer has been underway to produce a subset of the full suite of the WMAS Tests (starting with WMATS2019) that could be used by both HbbTV & ASTC to confirm in a manageable test run time that a device has a properly integrated browser to supports the APIs specified by WMAS. An update on the progress that has been made so far, additional planned work, and next steps would be useful for the larger group. /cc @robertforeman @poolec @yanj-github @bobcampbell-eurofins @louaybassbouss

Title: Image-based trickplay track interoperability Task Force: DASH-HLS Interoperability Description: Initial research on this topic had aligned to recommending image based tracks that are officially supported in MPEG-DASH and community supported in HLS, but in February Apple detailed a different track type utilizing motion JPEG files as it's path forward. While it is good to see movement from Apple, the approach being different from what the industry has majority aligned and produced is concerning from an interoperability perspective. We'd like to have a broader conversation on impacts and how to address this difference.

Monday, prior to the TWG Workshop, there will be an Open Source Media Application Reference Tools (OSMART) workshop. WAVE will be represented there, as will DVB, 5G-MAG, DASH-IF and others. The goal of the workshop is to discuss each project's open source tools, synergies between all the projects, and ways to collaborate.

We will have the WAVE Workshop at Forum the next day. We should report on the results and next steps from OSMART. Thomas S., Louay B. and myself at least will be involved in the OSMART workshop and can comment.

For those interested in registering for OSMART, the website is: https://dvb.org/news/event/osmart-workshop/.

CTA typically hosts a plugfest for the HDMI world. It’s a face-to-face event held (typically) in Silicon Valley. We’ll get anywhere from 15-30 companies attending with TVs, STBs, repeaters, dongles, measurement products, etc. CTA schedules 1:1 test opportunities for several days among the attendees, e.g., a STB guy with a display guy. There’s such a plugfest coming up in Fall 2022.

So, is there any need for, or interest in, testing the Media Capabilities API with HDMI-connected gear? This meeting topic will be a short overview of the HDMI PlugFest format and brainstorming on the value and method of adding Media Capabilities to the agenda for the event.
