User defined map layers #191

User can define X layers. Each layer is defined by a search string and has a different marker design. Each layer has a different timeline.

@mushon we would like a basic sketch for displaying layers in the map/timeline ? We can pay a couple of hours for this task, since it was not in scope. You don’t have to go down to all details, just enough to get a cost estimation from Tal. We do need it asap. We can start at first stage with a simpler implementation of displaying layers of a single project according to persons as an aggregate, perhaps a derivation of the expanded view of the timeline by projects. The map should also be able to differentiate between the aggregates. Currently the demand from researchers is mostly this kind of cross-section. In the more general scheme I would like an interface to define each layer according to a different filter, but I suggest we start with the more simple implementation.

@mushon, From discussion with researchers, I can summarize the following visualizations within a research:

  1. Which people within a research were in the same place at the same time ?
  2. Similarity and diversity of trajectories of persons in relation to each other.
  3. A possibility to focus on only a subset of the central people, hiding the rest. We may consider for current implementation that this subset can be pre-defined for the project by the researcher in the admin.

All these lead to a sub-division of persons under a specific research, right? we are not talking about comparisons of persons across researches at the moment. Are we?

yes
