This was raised at the OpenClim webinar today, and also relates to #31. Captured in Feature Request CORE-1365 (DAFNI Internal)

@fmcclean, we're looking in to this at the moment. Do you have some examples of typical expressions of resolution that you use for your work?

I'm wondering if using "X meters per pixel" is going to be appropriate for OpenCLIM, or whether we need something other than meters (e.g. degrees)?

fmcclean commented 3 years ago

Degrees, kilometres and metres should cover most applications I think. We wouldn't usually say "per pixel".

Thanks very much. Are there any links to some certain definitions - or better still, vocabularies of typical definitions - that you could share?

fmcclean commented 3 years ago

I don't know of any definitions. Spatial resolution is usually given as a distance (e.g. 1km). In some cases, there may be a vertical resolution and a horizontal resolution but that's not common.
