After reading the documentation (sorry, I had trouble finding it), I understand
the
sort behavior. However, I would still like this feature, especially in the
absence
of searching/starring/tagging. :-)

Agreed. When trying to work through large numbers of applications, the order
of the
applications can shift around as other mentors enter new scores. Being able to
view
the applications in order of submission time (either ascending or descending)
and/or
sort by name would be very helpful. Forced to choose, I think
sort-by-submission-time would be most useful.
Sorry for the "met too" comment, but I thought this example might underscore the
value of this enhancement.

Yes, this would be extremely useful. We have resorted to importing the student
application titles into a Google Spreadsheet so that we can get the sorting
features
we want and then transferring the feedback back into the Google web app.
