@d-beyer @aprocik1 catching up on this one -- to confirm my understanding, this new R+S page about finding a GI bill school is going to apply to both veterans and family, and both hubs are going to link to it. Is that right? So the existing https://www.va.gov/education/choosing-a-school/ is being retired?
@kristinoletmuskat, that's my understanding of this work. I just noticed the "choosing a GI Bill" page has this child page under it: Principles of Excellence program
I don't think we've accounted for this page in our list of tickets. Have you planned for this page in your IA thinking?
I have not! I'm wondering if this content will be included in the new R+S page?
I quickly reviewed this page earlier today, and I think we can include the principles of excellence content on the new R&S page. Let's plan on that for now. When we get started on this work, we can pivot as needed.
Accuracy update from 8/19 weekly sync with OCTO: Across all VA.gov pages and products, we need to make this change to content:
Decision from 8/19 weekly sync with OCTO: We'll draft one new R&S article to replace these benefit detail pages in the Veteran hub:
After the new R&S article is published and both of the pages above are redirected, we can archive them in Drupal.
Note: Beth confirmed the Principles of Excellence program is still relevant. It's not being deprecated alongside VET TEC.
@d-beyer, Beth recently updated the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance page as a part of the accuracy audit. She uses this content on the page:
Use the GI Bill Comparison Tool to find schools with approved programs
Can you make sure the H1 and content on our new page align with that framing?
@aprocik1 I've created the new R&S page. Can you take a look?
Notes on what I changed:
Thanks @d-beyer. I think we should discuss this page with Beth. We should ask her if we should be linking to WEAMS at all, since that page directs Veterans to the GI Bill Comparison Tool. And we should ask her if we can make substantive edits to the content the two pages we're combining.
What do you think?
@aprocik1 Yep, I agree with that assessment.
Update: We discussed this with Beth on 9/3. She's going to talk to SMEs about it. Their input will determine what solution we move forward with.
Update: Beth hasn't discussed this with SMEs yet. We can deprioritize this ticket for now.
