Emily Theis @Emily Theis - The 1st part of the Veteran Document Upload Silent Failure Discovery has been completed. @Scott Regenthal has completed his report and has made two sample files that he will email to you for you to review. FYI - the links are expired already. … @Scott Regenthal and @Lisa Capaccioli

@Sam Raudabaugh (federal engineer) and @Anastasia Hanan will be leading the past evidence upload and 0781 remediation from the OCTO side and are getting up to speed on the data and background. This remediation effort will be combined with the past failures of evidence uploaded through the claim status tool. I expect we may need to meet with them to answer questions in the coming week or two, and they may have some follow-on requests as they work to get these past failures handled. Lisa is the PM on this team and Scott is an engineer! Sam/Anastasia: I forwarded you and the files I received from Scott 9/9/2-24. I don't have data from Scott's note above on 9/19 on his trial run analysis about retrievability of each PDF. Scott - could you also add Sam and Anastasia to the "evidence upload files" sample you sent me on 8/26? I found that helpful to click through, but it seems I'm not able to add them to the Sharepoint folder Lisa- my note to Sam and Anastasia is that they can make those requests directly in this channel (or in the new #evidence-upload-ipt channel for this effort) and then you can ticket them accordingly and coordinate with me if the size of the request is too large for a sprint/affects delivery of another item.

Emily Theis Oct 9th at 10:27 AM We have feedback from Miranda from OFO on the forms uploaded to the SharePoint for manual remediation. Teams will need to correct their uploads according to this feedback

@AmyPlange @kylesoskin @rubensun In product sync I asked Emily what the possible scope of resources would be needed for the remediation of the historical silent failures. Emily believes that engineering will be needed for prepping the input files. That it’s possible when VBA tries to do the batch they will need additional information, if so that would also come back to us. (We tried to plan for this, so hopefully this is not the case.) Also if any regenerating the links are needed they would need us to do that. There are some unknowns on if they are going to ask us to support them with “fixes”, but even Emily understood that this should be out of scope. If it comes up we'll listen to why they need engineering for this help and advice before we agree to commit.

Hopefully this work will be small and will not have short timelines (i.e., quick actions with no immediate deadline). If it's not we will discuss the impact it has on the work we have planned and our commitments to deliver that work, then present OCTO with any risks before proceeding to do the remediation work. This has been agreed upon with OCTO.
