Isn't that what the "Buddy list sync interval" setting (in the Advanced tab of the plugin) does? You don't want to set it too low though, otherwise FB says you're trying to send too many requests and will kick you off the account

I don't really know what it does, maybe it updates the list of friends in case i add or delete friends on facebook...

Yep, that's it.

Currently it checks if friends are online (or not) every 2.5 minutes. Is there any way to change that?

I don't think it checks at all. We just receive notifications whenever facebook wants to send them. Onlineness is not a big priority for a mobile messenger app where you just throw messages and people will see them eventually.
