Not working on Linux Mint 11 64bit #473

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
My system:
- Linux Mint 11 64bit, kernel 2.6.38.8-generic
- CPU = AMD Athlon X4 630 2.8GHz, RAM = 2 x 2GB DR3 Corsair, MoBo = MSI
770-C45, VideoCArd = ATI Catalyst with HDMI exit to a Samsung 26" TV/Monitor.
- Emulator version = Mupen64Plus Console User-Interface Version 1.99.4
- Plugin used = none

If I run through double-clicking the icon under Applications -> ... , it does
nothing.
If I run it through terminal (with or without the sudo command), it tells me
this:

ale@beast ~ $ sudo mupen64plus

How did you install it? What did you download? Is it from an official source?
What is the URL of the deb/rpm/tarball/.... Which exact version did you install
(hg revsion number or which tarball from google code or which package revision
from the distribution, ...)

Currently it looks quite... weird because there should be no mupen64plus icon
in an application menu. At least not as part of the 1.99.x binary tarball or
official Debian package.

I think I messed the installation process somehow.
Let's do it this way:
please let me know which are the particular steps I have to do to uninstall
everything regarding mupen64plus and to re-install everything that concerns it
in the right way (I'd prefer the debian package way, if possible.).
Thanks

I have no idea what you installed and how you installed it. So it is impossible
for me to help you

I'm asking you politely Sir.
Could you please tell me how to do a clean working installation of Mupen64plus?
Thank you.

It is not a problem how you ask, but the information I/we have. And right now,
I don't have enough information to help you. I am really sorry, but it is just
not possible to assist you at the moment. Maybe you can join #mupen64plus on
freenode and ask there (you have to wait a relative long time until you find
someone who has time). It could be easier in a chat to ask you the right
questions to find a solution.

And maybe you can start and prepare the answers to the question which were
asked earlier in this bug report.

I just talked with Auria on the #mupen64plus channel on irc.freenode.net and
she solved my problems.

First, follow this guide
http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/wiki/CompilingFromHg by downloading the
tar.gz and executing ./m64p_get.sh && ./m64p_build.sh && ./m64p_test.sh
Then, execute sudo ./m64p_install.sh
Then, execute mupen64plus --corelib
<path-inside-m64p_helper_scripts>/m64p_helper_scripts/source/mupen64plus-core/pr
ojects/unix/libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0 <path where your rom is>
