I've attempted to install this distro on my Win8 64bit machine. Each time I run the OpenSim.exe I'm presented with the error you see (see image). However on a previous install of OpenSim in standalone mode I don't get this error. The verison of OS that is working is 0.7.4. The version of Diva is for 0.7.5.

Opensim Error

I'll delete the binaries and attempt this with the earlier version of Diva.

try running the OpenSim.32BitLaunch.exe if your running on a 64 bit system but you may have some MySQL errors there too.

RhinoAK commented 11 years ago

I attempted running OpenSim.32BitLaunch.exe with as well as without compatibility mode settings. Each time the screen pops up and immediately disappear with an error. Unfortunately I'm unable to capture the error msg. I've attempted this on both versions of Diva now. Same issue.......

ok, check your MySQL settings it looks like your having connect issue

RhinoAK commented 11 years ago

Dang I was hoping that wasn't going to be the issue.... I had a hell of time getting MySql setup. Are there any procedures for installing/Configuring MySQL for windows?

RhinoAK commented 11 years ago

I'm going to uninstall MySQL and start from scratch.

as I don't use win8 (win7-64-Winxp64) I'm not sure how to respond, I use Xampp on my box that runs Opensim, Xampp comes with PhpMyadmin which works well for editing your DBs. For me its easier then command line

Ok... Thanks for your insight. I've uninstalled MySQL and I'm going to reinstall. This time I"m going to make sure my firewall and av are off.

Uninstalled and installed earlier version, then I reinstalled latest. I think the real issue as it turned out was my firewall. Didn't realize I had a pre-installed version of Norton Internet security still running. My world is up and running under 0.7.5 now... Thanks again for your help.
