is pulling down the most recent yaks no longer available? R command receives the following error:

Hold up you beautiful person, if you wanna do anything more than read yaks you gotta download our new update. Now you can search and save custom peek locations anywhere in the world! So do yourself a favor and shower yourself in the glory of this new update. Ride on.

Check out soren121's implementation. I got that message but updated some of the parameters and now everything is cool. https://github.com/soren121/yodel

@odonnella, I'm not really sure what you mean by "check out" soren121's implementation. The readme has no information on how to use the app, the app is written in WinJS, and it looks like a client for the Windows Phone. Any further information or help you could provide to help get started there?

Could you share which parameters you updated to get rid of the error message @stomtong mentions so that you could continue using this API?

epierson9 commented 9 years ago

Agree with @indiesquidge -- could you explain more precisely how you updated the parameters?

ezhes commented 9 years ago

Turns out I didn't fix it, but if you take a valid key generated from an app, you can then view content. Just launch the client and run i and paste in your own valid key.

Anyone figure out which parameters? I thought i was just your username that you could put in, is that not the case, shusain93?

Timtech commented 9 years ago

You need to change the user ID to a working one; that's all you can do right now.

epierson9 commented 9 years ago

Thanks, trying to do this now -- how do I determine my User ID? (I have no phone, but I just installed the app on itunes on my computer.)

Uhh, I think you have to jailbreak/root your phone. I'm not sure how you would go about it on your computer.

deveyNull commented 9 years ago

Back in the good ole days you could just run a script and make a couple thousand accounts at a time, but alas. The newest updates have made new account creation an insanely complicated process, handled by a third party company. As a result, only way to get new accounts is download the app on a jailbroken or rooted phone and read it out of the Yak's xml files(forgot which one, but there aren't too many, you'll find it).

To get it out of your computer... idk. Just jailbreak.
